Geopolitical Council has double character: on the one hand, it is a civil rights organisation, a public charity that defends fundamental and human rights through the law and publicity, and on the other hand, it is a think tank. It helps people who are persecuted for their opinions, people who are disappointed by the justice system, people who are discriminated against for their integrity. It promotes transparency, revealing the reality behind the scenes.
What does it mean to be a civil rights advocacy and human rights organisation?
We sometimes feel defenceless against powerful businesses, informal power structures or the state. Few people sacrifice their time, energy, money and often their lives to a good cause, whether their own or that of others. But let us be clear! We don’t know if they are really few because they are often silenced, dismissed, vilified. As happens under dictatorships, but nowadays not only there. Many of them seek the protection of the law in vain, get lost in the jungle of rules or leave the courts with heads bowed.
Geopolitical Council helps those whose human rights are violated. Our clients: people who are taking action against unfairness, or just looking for a way to take action against rule-breaking, criminal, unethical businesses, officials, politicians, NGOs and others who have been wronged for standing up for themselves or their fellow human beings.
Founded in 2001, we have been involved in legal defence since 2003, when we were registered with the courts.

It was founded with the support of the Mayor of Óbuda-Békásmegyer, István Tarlós, in the Town Hall. Initially we focused on security issues, but today we are engaged in a wide range of advocacy activities covering many areas of democracy, including research and education.
Our main areas of activity are:
The community:
We are home to professionals from the fields of rule-making, inspection, law enforcement, engineering, prosecution, advocacy and judiciary, representing a wide range of companies, institutions, roles and experience levels. We put individual contributors and project managers on an equal footing. This applies to researchers, engineers, operations staff and many others. We take care of each other. That means cooperation and kindness. It also means being empathetic and paying attention to how we can be helpful to each other. It also means that we are speaking the truth.
If you are an expert, in the Geopolitical Council, you can experience that you are not alone, you can find people with similar interests. Here, we all work fairly for the common good, and we talk openly with each other about everything – beginning with news of the day, to ideas for better ways of working, to the videos we make – in safety, with people who understand each other.
